I found a tutorial on flickr by AndyZohner showing how to make a miracle blanket . I made one and it looked great, but it didn't really work very well. Maybe I did something wrong, but I am pretty sure I followed her directions. It turned out way too stretchy.
The pocket for the legs was way too baggie.
I tried sewing some elastic on it to help bring in all the droopy material...
... but it was still too saggy. My little guy just wiggled right out of it. Maybe I should have just bought a real one.
I don't know if it was a bad tutorial, or if I am just not good at making those, but for me it was definitely a failure for me. Okay, so now it is your turn to try out her tutorial and let us know how it turns out. Will it Pass or Fail?
Quick update:
ReplyDeleteI was trying to get my son to sleep in his crib for the first time. (out of my room, into his) He wouldn't go to sleep with out being all wrapped up in his blanket, but he kicks his blanket up on to his face (don't ask me how)so I didn't want to give it to him. After posting about how the mirical blanket was too baggy, I thought maybe since he is SO big now (3 months old)maybe it would fit. I tried it and it fit alot better then ever before. He went to sleep and I could have peace of mind that he wasn't geeting all tangled up in some blanket. So, I would have to say it wasn't a total failure, but I wish I could have used it his first 3 months of life. anyway...just thought I would shine a little light on my little discovery.
